True Meaning of Rest

Happy Monday
I hope you all had a great weekend.

I want to share something with you that has truly changed me in this process of building with God. When I began going deeper in my studies of scripture, I was led to study the Torah, the first five books of the Bible. In that journey I learned so much about God, about us as humans. But the main lesson I received was the importance of breaking away from bondage, trusting that He equips the unequipped, and embracing the true meaning of the Sabbath.

A little backstory.
I used to work nonstop and wore it like a badge of honor. I was proud to be the hardest worker, the fastest to respond, the one who always got things done. That team liked it too because they could procrastinate knowing I would make it happen. But over time I became frustrated. The truth is I was upset with the wrong people. I had allowed it. I allowed the gifts and skills God placed in my hands to be used in a way that served man’s demand instead of God’s order.

When the Holy Spirit revealed the Sabbath to me, it shifted everything. I realized I had it all wrong. I thought Sabbath was just Sunday and going to church. But the Word says otherwise. Sabbath is about putting everything down, not doing anything for profit, and truly resting in Him.

“Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work. But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God. In it thou shalt not do any work” (Exodus 20:9-10 KJV).

This took discipline for me. I did not realize how much I was always on until God began to teach me His rhythm. One of the most freeing truths was this

“And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made. And he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made” (Genesis 2:2 KJV).

If God Himself worked six days and rested on the seventh, who am I to think I can work all seven. Sabbath is not weakness. It is obedience. It is the reminder that our strength, vision, and creativity do not come from striving but from resting in Him.

I now take every Saturday completely off from building, it is a day to study scripture, visit with family and friends, and talk about the greatness of the Lord and all HE is doing in our lives.
